KeepMeUp

Free · open source · macOS

Your Mac stays up.
You get some sleep.

KeepMeUp is a tiny menu bar app that keeps your Mac awake whatever your Energy settings say. Set a timer for when it should sleep, lock or shut down, and control the whole thing from Telegram.

macOS 13 or laterApple Silicon & IntelLatest release

What it does

Awake on your terms, asleep on schedule.

One switch keeps the display on and the screensaver away. A timer decides what happens next.

One-click keep-awake

Blocks display sleep, the screensaver and idle sleep. Turn it off and macOS goes back to your normal settings.

Timers that act

In 30 minutes or 2 hours, stop keeping awake, turn the display off, start the screensaver, lock, sleep, restart or shut down.

Telegram remote

Check on your Mac, take screenshots, open apps and fetch files from your phone. Only chats you approve can use it.

Private by design

No servers, no accounts, no analytics. Sensitive commands are off until you turn them on with your password or Touch ID.

Signed updates

The app checks GitHub for new versions and only installs releases signed with the KeepMeUp release key.

Native and tiny

Written in Swift and SwiftUI. A universal app for Apple Silicon and Intel, with a glass design on macOS 26.

🛡 Off by default. Commands that can see your screen, use the camera, read files or run code stay off until you, the Mac's owner, turn them on in Settings → Commands — which asks for your password or Touch ID. Everything is limited to the one Telegram chat you approve. You enable these at your own responsibility.

Version 1.3.0 · You're up to date

Install

Three steps, about a minute.

KeepMeUp is free and not notarized by Apple, so macOS asks you to confirm the first time you open it.

Download

Get KeepMeUp.zip from the latest release and unzip it.

Move to Applications

Drag KeepMeUp.app into your Applications folder.

Open it once

Right-click the app and choose Open. The cup appears in your menu bar.

Security

Powerful, and only in your hands.

KeepMeUp is a remote tool for your own Mac. Because it's open source, you can read exactly what it does before you trust it.

One account, approved by you

Only the Telegram chats you approve in a dialog on the Mac can send commands. Pairing closes after the first chat, so strangers who find your bot can't request access.

Sensitive commands off by default

Screen, camera, file and shell commands stay off until you turn each one on, and the app asks for your password or Touch ID first.

No servers, no accounts

The bot token lives in a file only your macOS account can read. The app talks only to Telegram, with no KeepMeUp backend or analytics.

Use at your own risk. Turning on the more powerful commands is your decision and your responsibility — anyone with access to an approved chat can use whatever you've enabled. Keep your Telegram account secure and enable only what you need. KeepMeUp is provided “as is”, without warranty, under the MIT License.

Leave the downloads running. Go to bed.
